University of Basrah organizes a discussion on the quality of groundwater in Muthanna Governorate

University of Basrah organises a seminar on the quality of groundwater in Muthanna Governorate. The College of Science/Department of Earth Science at Basrah University held an initial seminar on the geo-environmental assessment of groundwater quality in Muthanna Governorate, southern Iraq. The seminar aimed to evaluate the groundwater quality of the Dammam aquifer for drinking and irrigation purposes, identify the hydrogeochemical processes controlling it, and predict water quality indicators using artificial neural networks from low-cost field measurements. The seminar, presented by master's student Atia Zaid Nasser under the supervision of Professor Dr Inas Abdulrazzaq Al-Mallah, included a presentation on the study area and its geology, previous studies, fieldwork methodology for fifty wells, laboratory analyses, and applications of Geographic Information Systems and multivariate statistics.
