The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled "Physiological Effects of Atherosclerosis and Its Underlying Causes," presented by postgraduate student Aya Aqeel Hameed.

The seminar aimed to shed light on atherosclerosis, highlighting the physiological and biochemical changes associated with the disease, as well as the roles of lipid disorders, inflammation, oxidative stress, and certain biomarkers in its development.

The seminar covered the definition of atherosclerosis, its underlying mechanisms and stages of progression, major causes and associated risk factors, symptoms and complications, as well as methods of prevention and treatment, with particular emphasis on the physiological and biochemical changes associated with the disease.
