The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled
(genetic engineering of recombinant human interferon-gamma gene by expressed in
e. coli and yeast) by the graduate student .Najim Mohsen Aziz. The study aims to
produce of recombinant human interferon-gamma gene by expressed in e. coli
and yeast from peripherial blood mononuclear cells...... and included RNA was
isolated from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells as a source for obtaining
the interferon gamma gene. It was produced in bacteria and yeasts using genetic
engineering by a special system using two strains of bacteria (E. coli BL21 and
DH5α) and one from yeast (S. cerevisiae BY4741)with appropriate vectors with
special treatments. The gene expression in both cells was studied and the results .
were confirmed by obtaining modified bacteria cells and yeast they can be producing
the target interferon gamma protein, the chemical and electroporation methods were used for transformation of cells, and the biological activity of the produced interferon gamma protein was measured compared to the available commercial
protein, and the results were positive and the study was recommended (further
purification for interferon gamma and study of biological activity)
