The College of Science Organizes a Seminar on Environmental Factors and Shrimp in Laboratory Cultivation

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on the impact of environmental factors on the acclimatization, growth, and cultivation of Metapenaeus affinis shrimp in laboratory settings.

The study, presented by Master's student Wafaa Abdulhameed Abdulrazzaq, aimed to determine the effect of environmental factors on the acclimatization, growth, and survival of shrimp under laboratory conditions to achieve optimal values for successful cultivation and sustainable productivity.

The study addressed the evaluation of environmental tolerance using the half-lethal concentration (LTC) index.

The study recommended that the successful cultivation of the shrimp under investigation depends on stable and optimal environmental conditions, emphasizing the necessity of implementing gradual acclimatization to improve production and reduce stress.
