The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on the use of green coagulants in removing certain dyes from wastewater.
The seminar, presented by Master's student Zahraa Aqeel Issa, aimed to measure the ability of plant and algal extracts to remove dyes from wastewater using safe and environmentally friendly methods.
The seminar covered the examination and testing of extracts from various types of algae and plants, and the selection of the best types of sustainable green coagulants under different operating conditions and environmental circumstances.
The seminar addressed the importance of algal-derived coagulants and their effective role in reducing pollutants from wastewater.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably the application of coagulants derived from algae and plants instead of chemical coagulants, as they are natural, biodegradable, and non-toxic materials.
