A Master's Thesis in the College of Science Examines the Hydrochemical Assessment of Groundwater Quality

A Master's thesis in the Department Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, examined the hydrochemical assessment of groundwater quality in selected areas of Basra Governorate in southern Iraq.

The thesis, submitted by student Ruqaya Talib Mohammed, aimed to identify groundwater sources in Basra, methods of collecting it, and determine its physical, chemical, and biological characteristics.

The thesis emphasized the importance of periodically assessing well water quality, as its properties are susceptible to changes due to varying environmental conditions and pumping rates.

The thesis recommended conducting extensive studies to find an environmentally friendly and cost-effective method for treating well water before its use for drinking and irrigation.
