

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a workshop on batteries as a source of clean energy.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Firas Mustafa Al-Khatib, a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science, aimed to introduce the different types of batteries, their operating principles, traditional and advanced batteries, and their role in the transition to clean energy.
The workshop also addressed the most significant environmental risks associated with the increasing use of batteries, the hazards associated with manufacturing and mining processes, the challenges of disposal, policies for mitigating harm, and highlighted modern, environmentally friendly batteries.
