The University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Organic Field-Effect Transistors as Advanced Sensing Platforms.

The Department of Physics at the College of Science, University of Basrah, organized a workshop titled (Organic Field-Effect Transistors as Advanced Sensing Platforms), presented by Dr. Manal Zaki Rajab, with the participation of several faculty members and students. The workshop aimed to explain the operating principle of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and outline their physical and electronic properties, as well as review their role as highly sensitive sensing platforms in environmental and medical applications.

The workshop included an explanation of the fundamentals of organic electronics, the operating mechanisms of these transistors, and the types of sensors built on them, in addition to performance criteria such as sensitivity, stability, and response time. The workshop recommended developing the organic materials used, strengthening research and industrial collaboration, and reducing manufacturing costs to expand the commercial applications of these smart technologies.
