The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "Rationalizing Consumption and Reducing Environmental Pollution."

The seminar, organized by the Women's Affairs Unit in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Student Activities Division, aimed to familiarize attendees with the types of environmental pollutants, their classifications based on chemical composition, and whether they pollute water, air, or soil. It also covered their characteristics and health risks.

The seminar, presented by Dr. Ibtihal Musa Jaafar, a faculty member in the Department of Ecology, included an introduction to environmental pollutants and their environmental and health risks. It also addressed the role of women and their effective contribution to rationalizing consumption through the intelligent management of household resources, conscious purchasing choices, and prioritizing environmentally friendly products and energy- and water-efficient alternatives.

The seminar recommended the importance of women playing their role in raising a conscious generation that recycles waste and engages in activities that reduce water and energy consumption. This makes their contribution a true link between major environmental policies and their tangible practical application in the details of daily life.
