The University of Basrah Organizes a Panel Discussion on Natural Radioactivity in Grains and Legumes

The Department of Physics at the College of Science, University of Basrah, organized a seminar titled (Natural Radioactivity in Grains and Legumes Using a Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (NaI (Tl),) presented by Ahmed Sami Mohammed, a graduate student in the Department of Physics, and attended by several faculty members and graduate students.

The study aimed to determine the level of radioactive contamination in grains and legumes by measuring the concentrations of naturally occurring radionuclides using a gamma-ray spectrometer, thereby contributing to the assessment of the radiological safety of foodstuffs.

The seminar included a presentation of the measurement results and their analysis, along with an explanation of the importance of radiation monitoring in preserving human health and environmental safety.
