The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Culture and the Environment: Towards Sustainable Community Awareness.”

The workshop aimed to highlight contemporary environmental challenges and the necessity of raising awareness among individuals, particularly university students, to contribute to protecting natural resources and achieving sustainable development.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Nayef Mohsen Aziz, included an explanation of the importance of disseminating environmental culture within the community and its role in promoting positive environmental behaviors and social responsibility.

The workshop recommended rationalizing resource consumption and emphasized the importance of community participation in addressing pollution problems and preserving the environment for future generations, which contributes to enhancing environmental awareness and building a more sustainable society.
