The Faculty of Science at the University of Basra participated in the comprehensive national afforestation campaign, which aims to strengthen the societal role of academic institutions and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The campaign witnessed the participation of the dean of the College of Science, Dr. Ali Abdul-Imam Al-Riahi, along with the members of the college council, teachers, staff, and students of the College of Science, to ensure the Deanship of the college supports initiatives that contribute to the development of the university environment.

The college's participation included the implementation of afforestation and rehabilitation campaigns to increase green spaces within the university campus, within the Central Park of the Faculty of Science, and within the internal gardens of the college departments, which contributes to improving the university environment and enhancing the culture of preserving natural resources.
