The president of the University, professor Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, honored the Department of Earth Sciences at the college of science, represented by the head of the department, Dr. Ali Khalid Al-Ali, for obtaining the third place on the Departments of Earth Sciences in Iraq in the results of the National Classification 

 This honor was within the central ceremony organized by the presidency of the University of Basrah on the occasion of obtaining the third place in the Iraqi classification of universities and in the presence of the assistant to the president of the University for Scientific Affairs and members of the University Council .

This honor comes as a result of the continuous scientific and academic efforts exerted by the Deanship of the College, the head of the department and the teaching staff, in addition to their keenness to upgrade the scientific and Research Level, develop curricula and enhance the Applied side in line with the requirements of the labor market.
