The College of Science organizes a seminar on evaluating well water quality and its suitability for irrigation.

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on evaluating the quality of well water and its suitability for irrigation in southern Basra Governorate.

The seminar, presented by Master's student Ruqaya Talib Mohammed, aimed to introduce groundwater sources in Basra, methods of collecting it, and determining its physical, chemical, and biological properties to identify its uses.

The seminar emphasized the importance of periodically assessing well water quality, as its properties are susceptible to changes due to varying environmental conditions and pumping rates.

The seminar recommended conducting studies to find an environmentally friendly and cost-effective method for treating well water before use, and equipping the study area with sewage networks or conducting regular maintenance of existing networks.
