Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Muhannad Jawad Kazem, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Ali Abdul Imam Abdul Zahra, and the management of the Head of the Physics Department, Prof. Wael Abdul Latif Kademi, the Physics Department at the Faculty of Science organized a specialized awareness seminar entitled: The Impact of Drug Use on University Students.

The seminar aimed primarily to increase community awareness of the dangers of drugs, with a particular focus on students as the cornerstone of society. The sessions also focused on explaining the serious risks that this scourge poses at the health, psychological, legal, and social levels, and ways to prevent it to protect the university campus from its negative effects.

The seminar was well attended and saw remarkable interaction from students, with speakers discussing the legal, security, and educational dimensions of drug use, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early education in limiting its spread within society.

The seminar was attended by a group of experts, including:

The seminar was held in coordination with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science and the Continuing Education Committee at the Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, as part of efforts to promote preventive and educational awareness among students.
