seminar entitled: (Promoting a Culture of Human Rights in Universities and Social Peace)

The College of Science at the University of Basra held a cultural seminar entitled:

(Promoting a Culture of Human Rights in Universities and Social Peace) on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.

The seminar aimed to solidify the principles of human rights within the university environment and enhance the university's role in disseminating a culture of social peace by raising students' awareness of their rights and responsibilities and guiding them towards adopting behaviors that promote mutual respect and positive coexistence, thus contributing to building a safe and cooperative university community capable of facing social and intellectual challenges.

The seminar, presented by Dr. Ashwaq Abdulhussain Musad and Ms. Hayam Sajid Ghanem, included a review of the origins and historical development of the concept of human rights. It also highlighted the concept of human rights culture and ways to promote it within the university environment, in addition to defining the concept of civil peace and its close relationship to human rights.

The seminar also featured the display of awareness posters addressing various types of human rights, which contributed to enhancing both the visual and practical understanding of the seminar's content.
