A book by faculty members of the College of Science on Barhi dates has been published

Dr. Abdul-Ridha Akbar Alwan, Dr. Widad Mazban Taher, and Engineer Anwar Sami Kadhim, faculty members in the Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, have published a book entitled "Barhi: Queen of Palms and Jewel of Dates."

 

The 537-page book, divided into 11 chapters and written in both Arabic and English, sheds light on the Barhi date, its origin and history, its initial discovery in Basra, its journey to the world, the countries where it is cultivated, its care, propagation methods, cultivation development, packaging and processing techniques, as well as the diseases and pests that affect it.
