

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a workshop on the panda as a symbol of wildlife conservation: a story of protecting the planet.
The workshop aimed to introduce the panda's life, habitat, and behavior, as well as the criteria that have made it a global symbol of wildlife protection.
The workshop, presented by Inas Awni Mahdi from the Department of Ecology at the College of Science, included an explanation of the panda's role in the ecosystem and the reasons for its declining numbers. It also reviewed prominent success stories and international efforts to preserve its natural habitats and increase the population of this endangered species.
The workshop recommended the implementation of protection measures for native animal species in Iraq and the necessity of intensifying efforts to protect their habitats and strengthen conservation programs.
