The Women's Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Student Activities Division at the College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar entitled "The Role of Women in Addressing Climate Change."

The seminar aimed to familiarize attendees with the essential role of women in managing family affairs and how to guide individuals towards preserving a healthy environment by reducing the amount of pollutants released into the atmosphere and the possibility of recycling them into useful tools and decorative items.

The seminar, presented by Dr. Widad Mizban Taher, a faculty member in the Department of Ecology at the College of Science, included a review of the most important types of houseplants that contribute to reducing pollutants inside homes, which in turn contribute to global warming.

The lecturer recommended the importance of afforestation and the role of women in cultivating houseplants, in addition to reducing pollutants released into the environment and the possibility of recycling and reusing them, which contributes to addressing climate change.
