



The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a discussion panel for graduate student Ahmed Sami Mohammed entitled “Natural Radioactivity in Grains and Legumes Using a NaI(Tl) Gamma Ray Spectrometer.”
The study involved measuring the levels of natural radioactive nuclides in different samples of grains and legumes using advanced radiometric analysis techniques.
It aimed to determine the level of potential radioactive contamination in these foodstuffs and assess their compliance with radiation safety standards, thereby contributing to promoting health awareness and ensuring consumer safety.
