University of Basra organizes a workshop on (Molecular Technologies in biology Sciences)

The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop entitled "An Overview of Molecular Techniques in the Laboratories of the Department of biology Sciences." The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Adnan Issa Al-Badran, Lecturer Dr. Anwar Nouri Ayoub, and Lecturer Dr. Zeina Hashem Abdul Wahid. The workshop aimed to review the origins of molecular biology by showcasing key scientific discoveries related to the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), its chemical composition, and the process of base pairing. DNA is considered the fundamental molecule for building the bodies of living organisms, preserving and transmitting genetic information across generations. The workshop covered the most important molecular techniques that can be used in research laboratories, including various types of polymerase chain reaction (PCR), methods for determining nitrogenous base sequences, and gene editing using CRISPR technology. It also addressed how to isolate DNA from blood cells, highlighting the most significant challenges researchers may encounter during isolation experiments, as this is the essential first step and starting point for all other molecular experiments. The workshop emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards and sterilization protocols, as well as understanding the theoretical basis of any practical experiment to enable researchers to... Avoid any errors that the researcher may encounter while performing the experiment in order to obtain excellent quality results.
