The College of Science Organizes a Seminar on Estimating Oil Hydrocarbon Levels

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basra, held a seminar on estimating oil hydrocarbon levels in the northern part of the Shatt al-Arab River.

The seminar, which was attended by graduate student Huda Abdul-Amir Abdul-Raouf, included an explanation of the environmental and biological importance of the Shatt al-Arab and the increasing pollution, particularly from oil hydrocarbons.

The seminar addressed methods for assessing pollution levels and their variation with seasonal changes in the studied areas of the northern Shatt al-Arab in Basra Governorate.

The study recommended continuous environmental monitoring, the establishment of a periodic monitoring program for pollution levels, reducing pollution sources, and increasing community awareness.
