The University of Basrah organizes a seminar on "the effect of anisotropy and flux units on the petrophysical properties of the Mushrif formation in the West Qurna field

The college  of science at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion on " the effect of anisotropy and flow units on the petrophysical properties of the Mushrif formation in the West Qurna field. The workshop aimed at analyzing the complex relationship between anisotropy (vertical and horizontal variation) and flow units within the Mushrif formation and their effects on basic petrophysical properties such as permeability and porosity, in order to build an accurate geological model of the reservoir that contributes to predicting the behavior of the fluid, improving field development strategies and increasing the final extraction rates in the West Qurna field. The seminar, which was attended by researcher Zahra Shaker Nasser, included an explanation of the concept of anisotropy and flow units, the methodology for identifying and distinguishing them using geological data and petrophysical analyses (such as well logs), analyzing the impact of these units on the spatial distribution of basic petrophysical properties such as permeability and porosity, and providing applied examples and modeling from the West Qurna field to clarify how to use these studies in building accurate reservoir models and improving field development strategies to enhance the efficiency of hydrocarbon extraction.
