Dr. Dunya Ali Hussein and Dr. Nayef Mohsen Aziz, faculty members from the Department of Ecology at the College of Science, participated in a workshop to discuss the "Iraqi Environmental Encyclopedia" project, sponsored by the Bahr Al-Ulum Charitable Foundation. The workshop was held in Najaf Governorate.
The workshop included the participation of a number of academics and experts and outlined the project's objectives, including documenting Iraq's environmental reality through 12 volumes covering topics such as climate change, biodiversity, legislation, and environmental economics. The workshop reviewed the proposed timeline, which extends until May 2026, and emphasized the need to involve scientific institutions and provide technical support to ensure the project's success.
The meeting recommended the importance of the encyclopedia as a national reference for decision-makers and researchers, and the approved authoring and documentation mechanisms.
