The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar title  (Distribution of Some Heavy Elements in Oil Fields Soil in Basrah Province) by the graduate student Fatima Jassim Ahmed The study aims to determine the concentration of Exchangable and residual heavy metals and their effects on human health and the environment and included identifying the concentrations of heavy metals in the soil of Basra oil fields, as well as their sources, modes of transmission, and the risks they pose to health and the environment and the study was recommended establish continuous soil, water, and air monitoring systems around oil field sites and implement regular health screenings for residents and oil field workers.
