The college of science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled taxonomic, sedimentary and environmental study in the marine waters of the Khor Al-Zubair area and the port of Umm Qasr, southern Iraq . The seminar aimed to conduct an assessment of the pollution of the region with total hydrocarbons, natural alkanes and aromatic aromatic compounds and determine their source and distribution, in addition to studying fossils and sedimentary environments within the study area. The workshop, which was attended by researcher Fatima Fakher abutrab, included methods of collecting samples from the Khor Al-Zubair area and Umm Qasr port, where five separate areas were selected to collect samples and dry them for laboratory work.
