The College of Science organizes a symposium on plastic pollution and its health effects.

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a symposium on plastic pollution: the silent, invisible killer in our bodies.

The workshop aimed to understand the environmental impacts, health risks, and ways to address plastic pollution.

The workshop, presented by doctoral student Sara Samir Yaqoub, included the importance of plastic pollution as an environmental issue. It also highlighted the negative effects of microplastics, the health links, and common diseases associated with plastic waste pollution, particularly cancer. The workshop also outlined optimal solutions for regulating plastic pollution.

The workshop recommended recycling or reusing plastic waste to reduce the effects of plastic pollution.
