The College of Science organizes a workshop on air pollution and public health challenges

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific workshop entitled "Air Pollution: Public Health Challenges and Sustainable Solutions."

The workshop aimed to raise awareness among participants about the interrelationship between air pollutants and global warming, and their impact on public health and quality of life.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Nayef Mohsen Aziz, included an explanation of the most important sources of pollutants and the role of short-lived climate pollutants in accelerating climate change. It also highlighted technical solutions such as air quality monitoring systems and carbon taxes, as well as non-technical measures such as community awareness and the adoption of renewable energy.

The workshop recommended the need to integrate national pollution control strategies with climate change mitigation policies, activate environmental education, and encourage cooperation between universities and government agencies in implementing environmental sustainability programs.
