To mark the university's founding day celebrations in April, the Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Abdul Imam Abdul Zahra, Dean of the College, and in coordination with Dr. Mustafa Abdul Wahab Najm, Head of the Department of Ecology, and in collaboration with a number of professors, staff, and students, held University Day celebrations in the department. The department displayed a range of scientific and handicraft productions, including various shrubs and flowers, presenting the department in its most beautiful and attractive light.

A number of students from the department were honored for their outstanding efforts in organizing the celebrations.
