The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar  (horizontal and vertical distribution of some heavy elements in the soil of entitled Basra Governorate, southern Iraq) by the graduate student Hussein Oleiwi  Anber The study aims to determine the extent of soil pollution in Basra province with heavy elements and included application of soil contamination evidence with heavy elements (IGEO, EF, CF, ) to ditermine the degree of pollution  and the study was recommended to reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers that contain high concentrations of heavy elements, using unleaded gasoline as fuel and recycling waste instead of burning it randomly  .
