University of Basrah holds a seminar on improving the geotechnical properties of soils using construction waste in selected locations of Basrah governorate.

The college of science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on improving the geotechnical properties of soils using construction waste in selected locations of Basrah governorate. The seminar aims to promote and select the addition of construction waste to high-plasticity clay soils and low-plasticity clay soils using construction waste, compare the new results after addition with the results before Addition, and choose the best ratios effective in improving the geotechnical qualities of clay soils. The seminar presented by the student (Aqil Abdul Amir Mohammed) included intensive geotechnical studies of the surface and underground layers to study the soil properties, and propose appropriate solutions and treatments for the weak soils that appear in some areas of Basra, which prevents the occurrence of any cracks, deposits or collapses in these weak soils. A number of samples were selected for the monastery area and the samples were analyzed within the American specifications on the basis of the specified proportions . These additives have improved to reduce the liquidity limit, expansion guide and plasticity guide, increase the maximum dry density value at the best water content, increase the non-confined compression resistance, CBR% value, and increase the weight density, and the results were 100% acceptable.
