The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Gene expression of some virulence factors)

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Study of the relationship between gene expression of some bacterial virulence factors and different stages of colorectal cancer) by the graduate student   Ahmed Saadon Khamees The study aims To isolate and diagnose the most important aerobic and anaerobic pathogenic bacterial species isolated from patients with colon and rectal cancer, and to identify and detect the genes encoded by these pathogenic bacteria that contribute to the occurrence of colon and rectal cancer, and the possibility of relying on molecular detection in detecting this disease  and included  collected a number of samples from different sources, where a group of samples were blood, stool samples, and tumor biopsy samples. A group of them were cultured, their DNA was extracted, and the polymerase chain reaction was performed, and a group of aerobic and anaerobic bacterial species were diagnosed and their genetic tree was created, while the other group of samples had their ribonucleic acid extracted and the pathogenic genes were detected by using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction technique. and the study was recommended  Using meta-genomic analysis technology to get a clearer picture and a broader concept of the microbial community associated with the tumor. It is also recommended to conduct more studies on other groups of cancers and focus on the role played by bacteria in this regard.
