The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Intratonsillar Molecular Detection of Some Herpesviruses with Histopathological Study ) by the graduate student Akeel Ahmed Jassim The study aims determine the prevalence of some human herpeviruses (HHV) including  HHV-4 , HHV-6, HHV-7 using the multiplex polymerase reaction (mPCR) technique and to characterize the association between viruses and recurrent tonsillitis with evaluate the histopathological changes in tonsillar tissue among patients with tonsillitis and included out of 100 samples which were collected from palatine tonsils was carried out to detected HHV-4,HHV-6,HHV-7,geneticaly also inculde the histopathological study  and the study was recommended determine the most common kind of tonsillitis in Iraq by examining viral and bacterisl distribution across the country.
