
The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a discussion session on scorpions, environment and behavior.
The session, which was lectured by the graduate student Jaafar Ali Makki, aimed to clarify the taxonomic status of scorpions and their importance in the ecosystem.
The session dealt with explaining the most important families recorded in the Iraqi environment and mentioning the characteristics of scorpions with deadly poisonousness and less poisonous ones based on the characteristics of the external appearance.
The current study addressed the survey and diagnosis of scorpions in the western part of Basra Governorate and recording the environmental factors affecting distribution and density.
