A master's thesis in the Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basrah explored the biodiversity of spiders on the plants of the Eastern Marsh Al-Hammar.
The thesis, presented by graduate student Rawaa Khaled Abdul Razzaq, aims to survey and diagnose spiders and study the abiotic factors affecting their presence for a full year from 2022 to 2023.
The thesis included the use of various environmental indicators to assess the biodiversity of spiders in this region and record seven species of spiders belonging to four different families, two of which are recorded for the first time in Iraq.
The study recommended the need to intensify and continue research to learn about the biodiversity of invertebrates in the Eastern Marsh Al-Hammar region.
