The lecturer at the College of Science at the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Najwa Muhammad Jamil Ali Abu Majdad, participated in the third Patent Exhibition for the year 2024-2025 on the production of carotenoids from colored yeasts, which was organized by the University of Baqubah. The conference means that the Patent Conference in Baqubah is an important platform to support innovation and promote scientific research in Iraq. The conference provides an opportunity for inventors and researchers to present their ideas and innovations to experts and investors. It also contributes to building a network of cooperation between universities, research centers, and the industrial sector to transform ideas into practical applications.

The aim of the lecturer's participation is to: Submit a patent participation in Iraq for the production of an antifungal using two strains of colored yeasts, Rhodotorula diobovata and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa. The study showed the ability of these strains to produce effective bio-compounds against pathogenic fungi. This innovation is an important step in the development of environmentally friendly natural antifungals. The conference included highlighting innovation in the fields of science and technology, commercial and economic challenges of patents, cooperation between universities, industries and companies, supporting applied scientific research, and establishing partnerships between academics and industrialists to develop innovations and transfer technology between research centers and companies.
