The Faculty of Science, University of Basra, organized the activities of the fifth day of the guidance week in coordination with the psychological counseling and educational guidance unit and the Department of Life Sciences under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Imam Abdul Zahra, and Dr. Maha Khalaf Zghir, the head of the Counseling Unit at the Faculty of Science and the head of the life sciences department. Dr. Anam Mahmoud Najm gave a lecture entitled (First Aid and its importance in our daily lives, which was delivered by Dr. Sondos Walid Khalid and M. Zainab Ali Mohammed Saleh.

The lecture aimed to raise students' awareness of first aid procedures and how to help the injured in the event of an emergency, in addition to introducing the main contents of the first aid kit.

The lecture included a reference to first aid and how to help the injured person, whether at home, the workplace, or on the street, mentioning the expected cases and how to help them as much as possible to avoid collateral damage and aggravate the injury. The numbers of the concerned authorities to be contacted in critical cases were also presented to reduce the possible damage after the accident, preserve the lives of others, and reduce congestion in hospitals.

The lecture recommended the importance of first aid for rescue and also referred to the importance of educational workshops and courses to raise awareness among students and teaching staff.
