the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on the occasion of the World Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Week

The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on the occasion of the World Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Week for the period from November 18-24 on (Title: Is the era of antibiotics over?) , and (Antibiotics were discussed) The lecture presented by the lecturer (Master), Dr. Alia Ahmed Al-Badr. The lecture discussed the topic of antibiotic resistance and the aim of the lecture was to clarify this vital, important and influential topic directly or indirectly on public health. The lecture recommended regulating the use of antibiotics and not giving them randomly, in addition to educating the community about the dangers of this excessive use. She added that it is necessary to follow international protocols when dealing with antibiotics and not allowing them to be dispensed without a prescription. Finally, she stressed the need for concerted efforts to reduce its misuse, which leads to dire consequences, such as the high number of deaths due to bacterial resistance in high-risk groups, which led to the death of more than 62% of patients in the eastern Mediterranean region, which also includes Iraq.
