The College of Science at the University of Basra , in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Unit, organized a symposium on the role of Iraqi women in facing global challenges at the present time.

The symposium aimed to demonstrate the roles played by women in order to face the major challenges facing Iraqi society.

The symposium, which was lectured by Dr. Majid Nouri Hamoud, a lecturer in the Department of Pathological Analysis, included explaining the role of women in building society as a basic element according to the theory of succession to protect the current generation from deviations.

The symposium recommended the necessity of spreading cultural awareness and focusing on the Islamic religion to build a civilized society to face the challenges facing modern lifestyles such as drugs and social media
