The University of Basrah hold a seminar on Shiranish Formation, Northern Iraq A seminar entitled (Reservoir Characteristics and Integrated 3D Static Modelling of the Mauddud Tight Carbonate Reservoir in West Qurna 1 Oilfield, Southern Iraq

Hold at the College of Science, Geology Department. The presenter Maysaa Abdulateef  Abdulhameed demonstrates the most important objectives of studying A detailed description of the characteristics of the Mauddud tight carbonate reservoir in the West Qurna 1 field, including: Create three-dimensional geological model of the reservoir, Recognize and identify the details micro facies across the studies section, Characterize the Mauddud reservoir:  to understand the reservoir properties (porosity, lithology, permeability, and fluid saturation), and calculate the hydrocarbon reserves in the Mauddud reservoir within WQI oilfield. The results reached (The Upper Mauddud contains very encouraging quantities of oil for investment, approximately 2.34 billion reservoir barrels. The study recommends According to the 3D static model and reservoir properties, the Mauddud reservoir is preferable to be depleted by either horizontal wells or vertical wells with acid fracturing.
