The University of Basrah hold a seminar on Shiranish Formation, Northern Iraq
A seminar entitled Sedimentology and Stratigraphy study of Shiranish Formation in Duhok and Erbil cities, Northern Iraq Hold at the College of Science, Geology Department. The presenter Na’esa Hassan Swadi demonstrates the most important objectives of studying A Sedimentlogical study by identifying depositional environment, diagenetic processes, stratigraphic development of the depositional basin and sea level changes by microfacies and geochemical study by identifying the clay minerals of the region using X-ray diffraction, the study was confirmed by identifying depositional environments by stable isotopes, The results reached There are four clearly defined depositional environments: slope, toe of slope, deep shelf, and deep-sea or cratonic deep basin. The study recommends Expanding the study area and making a correlation between the northern and southern regions, in addition to a comprehensive geochemical and mineralogical study
