PhD thesis at Basraha University to be discussed isolation of endophytic fungi and their secondary metabolites.  Ph.D thesis at the faculty of Science at the University of Basraha Isolation and Identification of Endophytic Fungi and Evaluation of their Secondary Metabolites on Some Plants Pathogenic Fungi and showed the researcher's thesis (Alaa Alauldeen Maatoq Al-Rifaie). Thesis aims to isolation endophytic fungi from 20 plant species and learned about the ability of these fungi to improve the vital characteristics of plants and protect them from fungal pathogens. Endophytic fungi are a group of microscopic fungi that colonize and grow inside healthy plant hosts in all or part of their life cycle, without causing any damage or disease symptoms. The result shows; A total of 786 fungal isolates, representing 35 genera and 64 species of fungal endophytes, were identified from the plant samples, along with 6 isolates from sterile mycelium. Identification of these endophytic fungi isolates was conducted. through a combination of morphological characteristics and validated by sequencing of the internally transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1)-5.8S-ITS2 rRNA-encoding regions. To the best of our acknowledgment, 30 of the identified endophytic fungal species were newly reported in Iraq.
