The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar title Molecular Investigation of Bacterial prevalence and Some of Their Virulence Genes Associated With Diabetics pregnant Women) by the postgraduate student Amna Ali Nasir The study aims are to investigate the common bacterial species isolated from the urine of pregnant urine suffered from urinary tract infections (UTIs)with Diabetes mellitus (DM) and non Diabetes mellitus. The study   included collection of 200 urine samples that divided into 100 urine samples from pregnant women with UTIs and DM and  100 urine samples with UTIs only. The results showed that E.coli are recorded as he predominant with 51% followed by Klebsiella pneumonia with 21%. Moreover, the results revealed that efflux pump genes found in  E. coli isolates (Recommendation: the study recommended that Molecular tools are ideal methods for identification of bacterial isolates in comparison with Viteck tool. also the study recommended further investigation of other genes that enhance the bacterial resistance towards antibiotics.
