The University of Basrah – college of science organized a seminar on the exploration of ancient rivers in the west of Basra ( Zubair district ) using remote sensing . The seminar, which was attended by graduate student mastermohammad Lazim Lifta, aims at a deeper understanding of the geological and cultural history of the Zubair region in Iraq, through the exploration and study of ancient rivers and their geological analysis using modern technologies such as remote sensing and satellites . The study included identifying and understanding the ancient water assets in the region, how they influenced the natural and cultural development of the region through the ages and then providing accurate knowledge about these resources.
