The College of Science organizes a seminar on evaluating air pollutants

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled “Assessment of air pollutants resulting from gas flaring in the Rumaila oil field, Basra, Iraq.”

The seminar, in which graduate student - Master’s student Hussein Talib Khreibish lectured, aims to evaluate the levels and changes of some air pollutants to determine patterns of the spread of pollutants in Basra.

The study examined the impact of gas burning activities on air quality, which contributes significantly to the high levels of various pollutants in the Rumaila oil field, in cooperation with the German Max-planck Institute.

The study recommended the need to implement effective strategies to control emissions in the Rumaila field and in cooperation between state departments to address air pollution in Basra.
