The College of Science organizes a workshop on the environmental and health effects of smoking

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on the environmental and health effects of smoking ((cigarette smoke, hookah, and electronic cigarettes)).

The workshop, which was lectured by Dr. Firas Mustafa Hassan, a lecturer in the Department of Ecology, included an introduction to the harms of smoking and its serious health effects.

The workshop explained the most important components of cigarette smoke, hookah smoke, and electronic cigarettes, their harmful effects on smokers and their families, and the great damage that the tobacco and smoke industry poses to the environment.

The workshop recommended the need to increase the awareness of young people and smokers about the risks and harms, enact a law prohibiting sales under the age of 18, and issue laws that protect public and closed places from smoking.
