The Department of pathological analyzes at the Faculty of science at the University of Basra organized a bacterial staining workshop .

The workshop aimed to identify positive and negative bacteria using gram stain.
The workshop, which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Zeinab Rady and assistant teacher Iman Mohammed, included the procedure of dyeing bacteria using gram stain, as Gram-negative bacteria appear in pink, and gram-wave bacteria in Violet, due to the different chemical composition of the bacterial wall and the reactions that occur when dyeing .

The workshop recommended the need to strengthen the students ' skills by conducting such tests in practice and enhancing their self-confidence to work in the laboratory field and improve their abilities .
