The doctoral thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basrah examined the assessment of the sedimentary situation of Khor Abdullah in the northwest of the Arabian Gulf - southern Iraq. The thesis presented by the student Zainab Abdul-Rida Hamid aims to evaluate the ancient sedimentary situation of Khor Abdullah and the modern one after the establishment of Al-Faw Port and other construction stations. The thesis included a series of field trips in the creek and the use of many field and laboratory equipment to extract and analyze sedimentary samples. The thesis concluded by identifying different types of sedimentary environments and determining the origin of the shallow islands in the creek, in addition to discovering areas for coral growth. The thesis recommended conducting C14 studies to determine the exact age of the sediments, in addition to conducting a hydrodynamic sedimentary model to predict the future sedimentary situation and trying to pay attention to the islands near the Iraqi coast by including them on the mainland.
