The University of Basrah organizes a workshop on the dangers of electronic blackmail and ways to combat it

The Department of Earth Science at the College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the dangers of electronic blackmail. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among attendees about the danger of using digital technology such as email or social media to blackmail individuals or institutions. The workshop, which was lectured by Colonel Fouad Muhsir Jassim, from the Training Department and the psychological consultant, A.M.D., included a lecture. Abdul Karim Zayer Al-Muzani defining the concept of electronic blackmail as a crime punishable by law because of the resulting threat to publish private or sensitive information about the victim or to disrupt an information system in exchange for paying a sum of money. The workshop recommended the importance of protecting electronic accounts and staying away from suspicious websites to prevent extortion.
