The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the environmental importance and geographical distribution of mangroves.

The seminar, in which graduate/master’s student Ali Abbas Fadel lectured, aimed to find out the extent of the possibility of planting mangrove trees on the coast of the Shatt al-Arab because of their environmental importance and great economic returns.

The workshop discussed mangrove forests and the species (Avicennia marina) and how to cultivate them and benefit from them in facing environmental challenges and enriching biodiversity.
